Thornton Academy’s standing in the first Varsity Maine boys lacrosse poll of the spring is the same as it was in the final poll of 2025: the Golden Trojans are the unanimous No. 1 team in the state.
Unanimous No. 1s in the first poll of the season aren’t common. Even the best teams have voids to fill on their rosters. But Thornton, which pulled off a big upset of an All-American-laden Falmouth squad in the Class A final last June, probably has the most key players returning. The Trojans have proved their bona fides in their first two games by outscoring their opponents 38-6.
Falmouth is ranked No. 2 and will be looking reverse the roles and stun the favorite this year. Yarmouth is third. The Clippers were last year’s Class B champion but have moved up to Class A this year, where they’ll be gunning for Thornton and Falmouth.
The Varsity Maine boys lacrosse poll is based on games played before April 28, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
