We’re proud to share that the Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) has partnered with the National Council of Nonprofits (NCN) on Nonprofits Get It Done, a bold, new national campaign that highlights the essential work of nonprofits across the country.
Amid escalating political threats to nonprofits, the creative campaign intends to reach people across the country to highlight how nonprofits show up for those in need, solve problems, and serve local communities and neighbors every single day.
“At a time when the role and rights of local community organizations and charitable nonprofits are being called into question, Nonprofits Get It Done offers a celebration of the everyday impact nonprofits make, uplifting the people, places and possibilities they help bring to life across the country,” said Diane Yentel, President and CEO of NCN. “Using real stories of actual nonprofits, we are able to remind the public and our elected leaders that nonprofits are essential partners in creating stronger communities.”

Maine nonprofits are a driving force in both our communities and economy, employing 1 in 6 workers and contributing over $16 billion annually. From feeding families to supporting children and strengthening neighborhoods, nonprofits are essential to the health and success of communities across the state. The Nonprofits Get It Done campaign highlights organizations such as:
Safe Voices, which provides shelter and support for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and other abuse;
New Ventures, which offers free guidance to help people grow their careers, launch businesses, and give back to their communities;
The Aroostook County Action Program, which supports community needs in areas such as food assistance and youth enrichment; and

The Dempsey Center, which offers a variety of free services and support for cancer patients and their families.
These are just a few examples of how nonprofits across Maine deliver real solutions to real needs every day.
“We are delighted to work with our colleagues at NCN to elevate the critical work that nonprofits do in all 16 Maine counties,” said Jennifer Hutchins, MANP Executive Director. “Nonprofits are particularly important in rural states like Maine where access to life-saving services is under severe strain as demand and costs continue to increase.”
Nonprofits Get It Done highlights the vital role nonprofits play in communities across the nation. They are the first people on the ground in times of natural disasters, they assist the elderly and the hungry, they provide crisis support for those facing health emergencies and much more. Nonprofits meet real needs in real time, right in our own backyards.
Who fills in the gaps for Americans in need?

The campaign reminds the public – and policymakers – that nonprofits are essential partners in building stronger, more resilient communities. It encourages the public to raise their voices and urge lawmakers to take action to protect and empower the organizations that serve as the backbone of American society.
“Nonprofits are deeply embedded in the daily lives of every American. This campaign shines a light on the people and organizations doing the work and calls on all of us to support them. Because when it comes to making an impact in communities and bettering our nation, nonprofits get it done,” Yentel added.
