LITCHFIELD – Stephen A. Allen, 78, died Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the VA Hospital at Togus following a brief illness.
He was born in Augusta on April 12, 1948, a son of the late Ervine B. and Lois (Lucas) Allen.
Mr. Allen was a graduate of Cony High School and, following graduation, served in the U.S. Army.
He had been employed for many years at Allen’s Transfer and Storage, retiring as vice president. He continued to work, driving for KVCAP, Northeast Charter and Bills Auto Transport.
Mr. Allen enjoyed his worship family at Dunns Corner Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Robinson.
Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, Lawrence A. Allen and his wife Heather of Litchfield and Torrey L. Allen and his wife Kim of Naugatuck, Conn., two bonus daughters, Peggy Becker and her husband Mike of Prospect and Ashley Russell of Somerville, Mass.; two brothers, William Allen and Norman Allen both of Sidney, a sister, Jackie Fiandaca of Groveland, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, Caitlin, Evan, Harleyann, Jason, Jaxson, Stephen, Allison, Haley, Madison, Matthew; as well as several nieces, nephews; cousins; and friends, so many special friends like Doug Hance.
There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Burial and committal prayers will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Winthrop Street, Augusta.
