Last spring, Windham and Kennebunk met for the Class A title. Windham won the championship and finished first in the final Varsity Maine girls lacrosse poll. Both squads are still loaded, so it’s no surprise that they’re at the top of the first poll of 2026. It’s also not surprising that the first rankings are somewhat inconclusive.

In fact, not only are they inconclusive, they’re not common. Kennebunk ranks No. 1 with 85 points and four first-place votes, but Windham received more first-place votes (five) but one fewer point (84) than the Rams. The teams have one regular season meeting this season, but it isn’t until May 19.

Falmouth, thus far, is the clear No. 3 team in the poll, and Yarmouth is a solid fourth. The rest of the teams in the rankings, from fifth through 10th, are separated by only six points.

The Varsity Maine girls lacrosse poll is based on games played before April 28, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
