Harriet Ann Laverdiere

SKOWHEGAN – Harriet Ann Laverdiere, 92, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, at the Scarborough Veterans’ Home, following complications of dementia, with her daughters, Patty Cyr and Letitia Laverdiere and her son, Fredrick Laverdiere, by her side.

Harriet was born at home in Farmington on Oct. 12, 1933, to her proud parents, Clarice and Frederick Sturtevant. She grew up with two sisters, Lorraine and Mary Jane. Harriet graduated from Farmington High School and Westbrook Junior College.

On Nov. 27, 1955, she married Paul Norman Laverdiere, and together they shared 68 years of marriage. Harriet was a devoted stay-at-home mother to five children, Patricia, Letitia, Douglas, Andrew, and Peter. Norman and Harriet raised their family in Turners Falls, Mass.; Brownville Junction, Waterville, Winslow, and East Madison, Maine. Harriet devoted her life to her family and faith and enjoyed baking, arts and crafts, playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and gardening.

She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Paul Laverdiere; her grandson, Frederick “Teddy” Brennan; and her great-granddaughter, Emma Nelson.

Harriet is survived by her sisters, Lorraine Norton and Mary Jane Sturtevant; her nieces and nephews, Melissa Norton Flick, Nick Norton, and Sue Myers; her children, Patricia Cyr, Letitia Laverdiere, Douglas Laverdiere, Andrew Laverdiere, and Peter Laverdiere; her grandchildren, Stephanie Brennan, Jessica Brennan, Julia Cyr, and Brittany Wassick; and her great-grandchildren, Cassandra Brennan, Brennan and Mackenzie Brady, and Balian and Adaline Brennan.

A celebration of Harriet’s life will be held on May 5 at 10 a.m. at Veilleux-Redington Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. Interment will follow for family and friends immediately following at 12 p.m., at the Central Maine’s Veterans’ Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
