Coby Morales hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Somerset Patriots a 9-6 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Thursday night at Bridgewater, New Jersey.
The teams combined for 12 runs in the last three innings after a stellar rehab outing by New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon, who struck out eight Sea Dogs over 5 1/3 innings. Rodon gave five hits and one run, on a home run by Miguel Bleis in the fifth.
The Sea Dogs trailed 5-1 before Brooks Brannon blasted a three-run homer in the eighth. Somerset answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth, but Franklin Arias tied the game with a two-run homer in the ninth.
