Ronald James Gilbert
WATERVILLE – Ronald James Gilbert, 81, passed away on April 18, 2026.
Ronald proudly served in the United States Army and later worked in retail for many years.
He loved spending time at his camp on the lake with his family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He also enjoyed visiting the ocean and exploring lighthouses along the coast. In his quieter moments, Ronald liked going to the casinos and relaxing at home while watching his favorite television series.
Ronald is survived by his former wife, Antionette Gilbert, with whom he shared his two children, Rhonda Cain and her husband AJ, and Steven Gilbert and his wife Anne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Reagan Gourley and her husband Nate, Keegan Cain and his wife Tristian, Hazel Gilbert, and Nora Gilbert; as well as his great-grandchildren, Anthony Cain, Noah Cain, Kinsley Jo Gourley, and Paisley Rae Gourley.
He was predeceased by his longtime partner, MaryEllen Beaulieu and her son, Dana Beaulieu. She had two other children, Michael and Sally Beaulieu. He was also predeceased by his parents, Edna and Leo Gilbert; and his brothers, Bernard, Gerald, Fred, and Arthur; and special nephew, Kevin Gilbert.
Ronald also made it a point to stay in close contact with his many nieces and nephews, especially Jeff Gilbert, Leo Gilbert, Kathy Gilbert, and Lori Simpson, along with many others he held dearly in his heart.
A church service will be held on May 7, at Notre Dame Parish at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery for family and friends.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
