Tyler Hardman slugged two of Somerset’s five home runs and finished with four RBI, leading the Patriots to an 11-0 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Saturday night in Bridgewater, New Jersey.
Hardman and DJ Gladney hit back-to-back homers and Jace Avina belted a two-run shot during an eight-run fourth inning.
New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe continued his rehab assignment with Somerset, going 1 for 4 with two RBI.
Patriots starting pitcher Kyle Carr combined with three relievers on a five-hitter. Carr struck out seven and walked none over six innings.
Brooks Brannon was 2 for 4 with a single and a double for the Sea Dogs.
