Brian Paul Goodwin

GARDINER – Brian Paul Goodwin, 46, of West Gardiner, Maine, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 30, 2026. He was born on June 2, 1979, in Augusta, Maine, to Victor Goodwin Sr. and Paulette Berry. He spent his whole life in West Gardiner, attending schools in Gardiner, and graduating from GAHS class of 1997.

Brian was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to “slay some brookies”, as he would say, and spent as much time as possible in Jackman, Maine. In the fall he hunted birds and deer, and he most recently took pride in helping to teach his nephew, Jackson, to hunt. He loved his family, especially his siblings, they meant everything to him, and he made sure to tell them daily. He loved the simple life. Working on the farm, haying, cutting wood and helping his father and brothers. He lived modestly and found comfort in consistent routine. Our hearts are shattered over his loss.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Nicholas Goodwin; a grandmother, Earlene Shea; and his grandparents, Roger and Elnor Goodwin. His relationship with his grandfather was incredibly special and Brian never stopped missing him. Ironically, the date of his death was his late grandfather’s birthday.

Although Brian was survived by his mother, her death followed his within a few hours. He is also survived by his father and his siblings, Tanya Goodwin, Victor (Chip) Goodwin Jr., Robert Goodwin and Nancy (Goodwin) Jacobs, all of West Gardiner, and Patricia Goodwin of Bath; nieces, Kayla Dennis and Laynie White. nephews Ted Dennis, Christopher Parlin, Brandon Ebert and Jackson Jacobs. Finally, a special love of his life, Crystal Tardiff, who was never replaced.

We invite you to share your memories and photos of Brian on his memorial page at http://www.staplesfuneralhome.com. There will be no visiting hours or funeral.

Burial will be at a later date alongside his mother at Friends Cemetery in West Gardiner.

Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
