HARTLAND – Jean “Jeannie” Lagasse Campbell, 82, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, following a sudden illness. She was born on April 20, 1944, the daughter of Cecile and Carl Justine.
On Jan. 12, 1963, Jeannie married the love of her life, Eldon Campbell. Together they built a beautiful life filled with devotion, laughter, and adventure. Married for 53 years before Eldon’s passing, their bond was unshakeable. The stories she shared of their years together – and the memories made with their children – were among her greatest treasures.
Jeannie and Eldon raised three children, who were the pride of her life: Dennis Campbell (wife Shelly), Lori Campbell, and Anthony “Tony” Campbell (wife Janelle).
She was a deeply proud grandmother to Matt Bennett, Taylor Campbell, Brady Campbell, Josh Campbell (wife Jen), Hailey Higgins, and Shannon Allard, and a loving great-grandmother to Khloe, Kalie, Maddison, and Jaxon Campbell.
Jeannie worked for many years at Edwards in Pittsfield, where she was known for her strong work ethic and boundless energy. Even in retirement, she never truly slowed down.
One of the brightest lights in Jeannie’s later years was her beloved grand-pup, Hank. Their bond was something special – she cooked him breakfast and dinner every day, slipped him treats when no one was looking, and adored him with her whole heart.
Jeannie also had a remarkable circle of girlfriends – her “tribe.” Whether it was lunch dates, camping trips, Florida getaways, or girls’ nights with wine, The Bachelor, and matching Christmas pajamas, she was always ready for fun. Each friendship held a unique and cherished place in her life.
She was predeceased by her sister, JoAnn Nicholson, and brother-in-law, Robert Nicholson.
Some of Jeannie’s fondest memories were the winters she and Eldon spent traveling to Arizona. Those trips became a tradition filled with sunshine, friendship, and stories she loved to retell.
Above all else, family was everything to Jeannie. She loved hosting weekly dinners with Tony and Janelle, always cooking enough for anyone who walked through the door. Fierce and determined, she lived life on her own terms – full of love, loyalty, and grit. She worked hard, loved deeply, and never hesitated to speak her mind or stand her ground.
She was endlessly proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.
Her spirit, her laughter, her strength, and her unwavering love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Her Beans Corner Road family, who shared countless everyday moments and memories with her, will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Hartland. A reception will follow immediately at the Pavilion at Fogg Brook Resort – the same place where her 80th birthday was joyfully celebrated.
