BENTON – Merle Brann Sr., 89, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and hard work, and memories with the people he loved most. A man who was never afraid to speak his mind, Merle was known for being outspoken and honest, you always knew what he was thinking. One of the many qualities that people loved about him.
The son of Donald and Dorothy Brann, he was born Friday, June 12, 1936, in Mercer. Throughout his life, Merle worked many construction jobs, taking pride in hard work and providing for his family. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time fishing and traveling with his longtime partner, Kathy Farris. Together for 38 years, the two shared countless adventures and made many memories wherever the road took them.
Merle was preceded in death by his son, Mike Brann; his first wife Gerladine Brann; and his beloved partner Kathleen Farris.
Merle is survived by his sons, Merle Brann Jr. and Donald Brann; and by his cherished grandchildren, Jason, Michelle, John, and Kristy. He also leaves behind many friends and loved ones who will remember his humor, stubborn streak, strong opinions, and the way he could make an impression on anyone he met.
Merle’s legacy will live on in the stories shared around the family table, on fishing trips, and in the memories of all who knew him.
