Tammy Marie Sturtevant-Baker

FAIRFIELD – Tammy Marie Sturtevant-Baker, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.

Tammy was born in Augusta, on July 18, 1962, daughter of Charles Andres and Brenda (Pinnette) Andres. She graduated from Erskine Academy in 1981.

Tammy dedicated 38 years to the State of Maine, starting as a custodial worker and working her way up to a Human Resources Manager with the Department of Health and Human Services. She retired on Dec. 5, 2025, though anyone who knew her knows she never stopped taking care of people. A devoted member of Winslow Baptist Church for 15 years, Tammy shared her faith through music as a worship leader and through the way she lived her life daily.

Tammy didn’t just attend gatherings – she created them. Known as the ultimate party planner, her home was often filled with laughter, music, and more food than anyone could possibly eat (but somehow always did). She had a gift for making everything more beautiful, from her thriving gardens to the lives of the people around her. If something needed a creative touch, Tammy was already halfway done improving it. She loved to sing – whether on stage, in church, or just because the moment called for it – and she had a way of bringing joy wherever she went. Generous to her core, she gave freely to family, friends, and causes close to her heart. If you knew Tammy, you likely felt seen, welcomed, and maybe even recruited into helping with whatever she was planning next. She was often described as “the spark in the room” and anyone who knew her would agree – that spark will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

She is predeceased by her parents; her brother, David Andres; her niece, Rickie Natale; and former spouses Steve Campbell and Peter Sturtevant.

Tammy is lovingly remembered by her spouse, Bob Baker; her sons, Jeffery Campbell and His wife Amanda, and Cameron Woodard; her cherished grandchildren, Brody and Lexsy; stepchildren Heidi McNally and grandchild River, Michael and Hillary Baker; Jo Baker and Erin along with grandchildren Ella and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sister, Vicky Andres; her dear friend, Yvonne Rosen; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held May 9, at 1:30 p.m., at Faith Church, 250 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Waterville. A burial will take place on May 11, at 1 p.m., at Mt. Abram Cemetery, 50 Howard Road, Salem Township.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who provided care, comfort, and support during Tammy’s illness.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed; condolences and memories shared at http://www.gallantfh.com
