A Maine prisoner who has been sought by authorities since he walked off a jobsite this week was arrested Saturday in New Hampshire.
Brian Day, 45, left a jobsite in Thomaston without permission Monday, the Maine Department of Corrections said. The department later said arrest warrants had been issued for Day and Candice Fisher, 45, of New Hampshire, with whom Day was believed to be traveling.
Day and Fisher were taken into custody Saturday by police in Rochester, New Hampshire, the Department of Corrections said in a news release.
Day was sentenced in October to 3½ years in prison for offenses including theft and forgery and was being held at Bolduc Correctional Facility in Warren. He had “earned a certification level of community custody” that allowed him to work in the community, according to the department.
The Department of Corrections did not say Saturday what charges Day and Fisher may face for evading authorities.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
