Maine has a large population — approximately 30% — of registered voters who are not enrolled with either major party.
As of 2022, when the bill was passed into law, unaffiliated/unenrolled registered voters are eligible to vote in Maine primaries.
When voters go to the polls or request a mail-in or absentee ballot, they declare which political party they will vote for and the applicable ballot is provided.
This is a very important statewide change that needs to be brought to the public’s attention via candidates forums, television ads, digital/print advertising, social media, family and friends.
Here’s a partial list of offices we’re voting for: governor, U.S. senator, both congressional seats, 35 Senate districts, 151 representative districts and a variety of judge/register of probate, county treasurer, register of deeds, sheriff, district attorney and county commissioner, depending on where voters live.
Remember, every vote counts!
