On both the Democratic and Republican side, the Maine governor’s race is wide open.
Five candidates are vying for the Democratic nomination, and seven are seeking the GOP nod. Gov. Janet Mills can’t run again because she’s term-limited; voters will pick her successor in November.
The Portland Press Herald’s Rachel Ohm and Maine Public’s Steve Mistler and Kevin Miller sat down with 11 of the Maine gubernatorial hopefuls for a series of 1-1 interviews earlier this spring.
The interviews were pre-recorded in Maine Public’s Lewiston studios. Interviews with the Republican candidates air Monday night at 7 p.m. One of the candidates, Bobby Charles, declined our invitation.
Part 2, which includes all of the Democratic candidates, airs Tuesday night at the same time.
