High school sports coverage is proudly supported by Maine State Credit Union.
Cheverus has done nothing to lose its standing as the top team in the state, or in the Varsity Maine softball poll. The Stags (6-0), led by Florida State-bound ace Addison DeRoche, entered the season as the favorites in Class A, and they have more than lived up to that and all other expectations.
But there is a lot of great softball being played throughout the state. For instance, Oxford Hills is 8-0 and rolling in Class A North. That has earned the Vikings a first-place vote, thereby ending Cheverus’ standing as the unanimous No. 1.
Bonny Eagle enters the rankings at No. 10 after an impressive win over last week’s No. 2, Gorham.
The Varsity Maine softball poll is based on games played before May 12, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
