Ahbram Liendo capped a second-inning rally with a two-run double, then added a home run in the seventh inning as the Portland Sea Dogs earned a 5-3 win over the Hartford Yard Goats in an Eastern League game Thursday night in Hartford, Connecticut.
Marvin Alcantara put the Sea Dogs ahead with a solo home run in the second. Nelly Taylor and Max Ferguson both drew walks, then scored on Liendo’s double. Liendo also tried to score when the relay back to the infield was misplayed, but he was thrown out at the plate.
Ronald Rosario made it 4-0 with an RBI single in the third.
Sea Dogs starting pitcher Blake Wehunt struck out seven in 3 1/3 scoreless innings but didn’t last long enough to qualify for a win. The victory went to reliever Max Carlson (1-1), who allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. Cooper Adams struck out four over the final two innings for his second save of the season.
