Sherry Robinson Cennamo
VASSALBORO – Sherry Robinson Cennamo, 75, of Vassalboro, was living her best life when she was taken from us in a tragic accident on April 26, 2026, while vacationing on Fripp Island, S.C. Her vibrant loving soul left this world suddenly, leaving family and friends in total shock. She was joyous, content and making plans for a happy future.
Sherry was the pillar of her blended family, a constant companion to her husband, Ralph and a loving force in the lives of her many friends. Born in 1951 in South China, Sherry graduated from Erskine Academy in 1969, and became a young wife and mother after high school. Years later, she encountered the love of her life, Ralph Cennamo, and they formed a blended family built on a foundation of love and acceptance for all six of their children.
Sherry’s legacy will be enormous. From her heartfelt focus on everyone she cared about, her deep devotion for her many rescued pets, to her whole-hearted dedication to her family, Sherry will be dearly missed. An empathetic listener, advice giver, and leader, she was ready to help anyone at a moment’s notice. She greeted all with a hug and a smile, and was quick to assist those in need. People will not soon forget her kindness, love and her ability to make everyone feel so special.
In the mornings, Sherry savored her coffee with warm foam, sitting on a deck either at her home or elsewhere. She enjoyed planning and expanding her prolific gardens, filled with irises, hostas, and prize peonies. Like her mother, she loved birds, and had multiple feeders full to the brim at all times. You often could find her totally focused on her phone, competitively playing and winning the Match 3D game. Sunsets and full moons were always special events to be cherished.
As a retiree, she continued to work part time in L.L. Bean customer support, as well as operated her own business for over a decade. Sparkle Plenty (her childhood nickname), sold jewelry, bird feeders and garden accessories that she created.
Other employment included working as an administrator for the Census Bureau, RGIS Inventory, and Hallowell Shoe. She worked in retail at Linen-n-Things and she operated the Schoolhouse Daycare in Vassalboro in the 1990s.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 35 years, Ralph Cennamo; her children, Scott Sevigny, Staci Fortunato and husband Peter, Shelly Wilson and partner Damon Wheelock, Nick Cennamo and partner Amanda Selitzer, Michael Cennamo and partner Amy Gardella, Anthony Cennamo and partner Amy Boutwell; as well as eight grandsons, Jordan and Tony Sevigny, Andrew and Daniel Fortunato, Luke Wilson and partner Kali Porter, Isaak Wilson, and Christopher and Nicholas Cennamo.
Sherry was predeceased by her parents, Ervin and Erma Robinson, of South China, and her older sister Valarie Astwood of Newberry, S.C.
Her younger sister, Robin Robinson, continues to live in Beaufort, S.C., and will be eternally grateful for Sherry’s love, support and care during Robin’s recent heart transplant. Sherry left her home, her family and her cat to move to Beaufort with Robin for more than a year and a half during the surgery process, further proof of her monumental dedication to others.
A private burial will be held in Howard Cemetery, Winslow.
