Republican politicians preach: “America has the best healthcare system in the world.”
Here’s what it looks like in real life. My bride has an incurable cancer. Her oncologist recommended a new chemotherapy medication to control her cancer. It costs $600 per day, and the manufacturer declined to provide financial assistance because she has Medicare Part D. We planned for our retirement with one of the primary goals being to have the best possible health insurance, which backfired. I would have to cancel her Part D to qualify. Even then, we do not know what the medication would cost us. Would others gamble on dropping their health insurance? Talk about rolling the dice.
We have the most expensive healthcare system in the world. Compared to other wealthy countries, the return on our dollar for healthcare is the worst.
Healthcare is driven by greed. With Trump as our president, it has only gotten worse. Roughly half of all personal bankruptcies are because of medical bills. Millions lost or will lose their health insurance under Trump, and Big Pharma is richer than ever. Funding for medical research has been severely cut. What Trump and Republicans demand is that we have to worry about taking care of their Epstein class of millionaires and billionaires.
The driving force for medicine in America is about profit. Buddy, can you spare a dime?
