Charles “Charlie” Gorman Jr.
OAKLAND – Charles “Charlie” Gorman Jr., 84, of Oakland, Maine, died peacefully at home on May 15, 2026, with his wife, daughters, and favorite sisters-in-law by his side.
He was born on Oct. 2, 1941, to Alma Delaware Gorman and Charles Edward Gorman, Sr. He grew up in Augusta, Maine and went to Augusta schools. He enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Chicago, Ill. Upon discharge, he had a life-long career in the trucking business.
He was a member of the Oakland American Legion Post 51 and Post 51 Oakland American Legion Riders; a life member of the Augusta Elks BPOE 964; and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Gardiner.
Charlie loved the simple things in life – hunting, fishing, riding his Harley and especially spending time with his family. His family meant everything to him and the memories of them will be cherished forever.
He is survived by his wife Monica; daughters Megan and Leah Gorman, and son Charles E. Gorman, III; grandchildren Tahtan Gorman, Jaydyn and Davyn Tuel, and Jacob Charles Gorman; his sisters-in-law Sandy Picard, Patty Rourke, Liz Godfrey, Amy (Mike) Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Judi and brother-in-law Charlie Tappan, and his son Scott Simpson.
Charlie will be deeply missed not only by his family but by the many dear friends who became family to him throughout his life. A special thank you to Andwell Hospice especially Erin his caregiver.
A celebration of life will be June 5 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the American Legion Post 51, 22 Church Street, Oakland. Please bring your stories to share.
