Dorothy A. Thibodeau

CHELSEA – Dorothy A. Thibodeau, 84, died Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Maine Veterans Home following a brief illness. She was born in Bowdoinham, Maine, on Jan. 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Otis C. and Emily (Wallace) Gray.

Mrs. Thibodeau attended school in Richmond. She had been employed by Augusta Federal Savings Bank for many years. She also had worked for Gardiner Savings and was a bus driver in Chelsea for a few years.

Dorothy was a loving, unstoppable force who adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.

She poured her soul into everything she did, especially when it came to her favorite hobby; creating beautifully intricate quilts. Each handmade blanket remains a warm, lasting embrace of her love. We will always remember her for her sharp, witty humor and that beautifully feisty spirit that kept us laughing and on our toes.

Mrs. Thibodeau was predeceased by her sister, Janice Curtis, and two half-brothers, Myron and Marshall Dunn.

She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gerard L. “Jerry” Thibodeau of Chelsea, Maine; her children: Ronald E. Spencer and his wife Janice of Pensacola, Fla., Cindy M. Vincunas and her husband Richard of Granville, Mas.. and Robin Spencer and his wife Terry of Manchester, Maine; three stepchildren, Jeff Thibodeau and his wife Kathy of Belgrade, Maine, Deborah Everett and her husband Daryll of Norridgewock, Maine and Dawna Gilbert and her husband Dan of Chelsea, Maine; her brother, Robert Gray of Van, WV; a half-sister, Martha Emmons of Richmond, Maine; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Burial will be in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, CNA’s and staff at the Maine Veterans Home as well as to Beacon Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Dorothy and to the family during these last few weeks. Their support during this time has been greatly appreciated.
