Caldre Glowa was 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored, and Maranacook extended its baseball winning streak to 11 games by defeating Spruce Mountain 14-2 in a Mountain Valley Conference game Saturday in Livermore Falls.

Grant Walters scored for times and Madox Murtha had two RBI and two runs scored as Maranacook (12-1) won for the fourth day in a row. The Black Bears broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning and added three runs in the sixth to put the mercy rule into effect.

Carter Nelson, the winning pitcher, struck out seven and gave up only one earned run through five innings.

Brody Veilleux and Trent Lovewell each hit a double for Spruce Mountain (2-8).

SOFTBALL

MOUNT VIEW SPLITS WITH OLD ORCHARD BEACH: Sammy Darling had two hits, including a double, and two RBI to lead Old Orchard Beach (8-5) to a 7-0 win over visiting Mount View (5-9) in the first game of a doubleheader.

Mount View won the second game, 10-1.

In the first game, Lilah Morris hit a double and Amelia Gervais had two hits and scored twice.

In Game 2, Idella Brugger, Jayden Dodge and Samantha Rainey each hit a double for Mount View. Madison Bennett, Dodge and Devon Cartier all had two RBI.

Hannah Webber, who earned the win in Game 1, recorded her 200th career strikeout in the second game. Darling led OOB’s offense with two hits.
