State Sen. Joe Baldacci and I studied together for the bar exam 35 years ago. While we pursued different paths as lawyers, I’ve been privileged to observe him build a successful law practice while accepting clients whose cases challenge power imbalances.
Baldacci has integrated social justice with legal strategies to advance positive systemic change. He centered his firm’s practice on empathy while working alongside grassroots organizations, community organizers and advocacy groups.
Baldacci Law implemented sliding-scale fees and accepted contingency arrangements to ensure low- and middle-income Mainers could afford legal services. He received awards for generously donating time to impactful pro bono services, defending marginalized and underrepresented individuals.
Attorney Baldacci turned down lucrative corporate clientele because he believed they were taking advantage of others. In the way that he tirelessly advocates for clients in courtrooms, we can count on him in Congress to dismantle the “billionaire economy” of Donald Trump.
