In response to the story that ran about Ken Graves and the Calvary Chapel, the tyranny of religion is exactly what the U.S. Constitution addresses in the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; …”
I have no problem with religious people saying things I don’t agree with, but I am thankful in knowing that when people like Graves and his late friend Charlie Kirk invoke their interpretation of the Bible as a “‘war going on … between truth and lies’ … and only ‘God’s word’ and ‘God’s sword’ can ‘cut through all lies and opinions'” it is exactly why Americans do not want biblical interpretation making American law.
People are free to use their religion to inform their life, but violent interpretations of the Bible disagree with my interpretations of love, peace and forgiveness.
