Florence (Burpee) Kimball Baker
WINTHROP – Florence Burpee Kimball Baker of Winthrop, the daughter of John Arthur and Marion Blethen Burpee, passed peacefully on May 15, 2026, following a brief illness. She was born in Bucksport, Maine on Nov. 26, 1922.
Florence married Albert Kimball in 1940 and George Baker in 1988.
A homemaker and mother, and later a real estate broker in Augusta, Florence was active in the South Parish Congregational Church in Augusta and the Ridgeway Theater Group in Hobe Sound, Fla. where she wintered for many years.
She was predeceased by her husbands; parents; six sisters, four brothers; and two sons, Albert P. Kimball, Jr. and John W. Kimball.
Florence is survived by her sister, Charlotte Jordan of Rockland; her son, Frank J. Kimball (wife, D.D. Russell Kimball) of Winthrop, daughter, Barbara K. Pierce (partner, John Dumont) of Augusta, and five stepchildren, George Baker, Jr., Virginia Baker, Brian Baker, Barbara Sawyer and Alan Baker. She is survived by nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery (Fuller Extension) in Augusta. Immediately following the graveside service, a gathering will be held at her son’s house.
