Rylee Turner struck out 19 batters and allowed only five hits while winning both games as Spruce Mountain swept a softball doubleheader Monday against Maranacook, winning 10-0 and 12-1 in a pair of five-inning games in Jay.
Turner pitched a two-hitter in the opener with nine strikeouts and no walks. Ashley Nelson doubled and drove in four runs, and Santika Hodgkin hit a home run.
In Game 2, Khloe Ames recorded a single, a double and three RBI. Laya Spear also had two hits, including a triple, as Spruce Mountain improved to 6-4.
Paige Magee homered for Maranacook (1-12) in the second game after getting one of her team’s two hits in Game 1.
