Portland Sea Dogs right-hander Anthony Eyanson was chosen as Eastern League Pitcher of the Week after he worked five innings without allowing a hit in his second Double-A start last Tuesday against the Reading Fightin Phils.
Eyanson, rated by MLB.com as the No. 2 prospect for the Boston Red Sox, has a 0.61 ERA in his first professional season going into Tuesday’s game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. He began the season at Class A Greenville and was promoted after five starts. Overall, he has 42 strikeouts, seven walks and 10 hits allowed over 29 1/3 innings.
Eyanson is the scheduled starter for Tuesday’s series opener.
