Patrick Murphy singled twice and drove in three runs to help Hall-Dale take down Mountain Valley 7-3 in an MVC baseball contest Wednesday in Rumford.

Carson Mattice drove in two runs, while Greyson Cary notched three hits, including a double, and scored twice for the Bulldogs (6-7). Starting pitcher Collin McArthur stuck out seven in six innings.

Sawyer Durant, Josh Pollis and Braydan Hughes had two hits apiece for the Falcons (5-8). Pollis and Kegan Jordan each smacked a double and drove in a run. Zach McLean fanned seven in 6 2/3 innings of relief.

MARANACOOK 9, WINTHROP 2: Grady Hreben pitched a 14-strikeout one-hitter, and Maranacook earned its 12th straight win by taking down Winthrop in a Class C South game in Winthrop.

Hreben didn’t allow walk or an earned run. The Black Bears (13-1) supported him with 13 hits, including two apiece by Will Watson, Caldre Glowa, Cam Jones and Carter Nelson, who had two RBI. Hreben contributed a hit, a run and an RBI, while Noah Longfellow doubled and scored twice.

Clyde Moody’s double was the only hit for the Ramblers (6-7). He also drove in a run and scored one.

SOFTBALL

MT. BLUE 7, OAK HILL 6: Chloe Maberry’s one-out single scored Leah Merrill and gave the Cougars (6-7) a walk-off win in a back-and-fourth contest against the Raiders (5-7) in Farmington.

Mt. Blue led 1-0, trailed 3-1, then went up 6-3 before Oak Hill tied the score with a three-run top of the sixth.

Maberry finished with two RBI and tied with Leah Michaud (double) for the team-high with two hits. Merrill pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win. She struck out four, after starter Reagen Quimby fanned seven.

Sydney Wood recorded two of Oak Hill’s three hits, including a double. She also drove in two runs. Ava Lemont had the other hit and drove in one run.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY SWEEPS HALL-DALE: Addison Libby struck out nine and allowed a combined eight hits to earn both wins in Mountain Valley’s doubleheader sweep of Hall-Dale in Rumford.

The Falcons (8-5) won the opener, 4-3, and took the second game, 10-1. Both games were five innings.

Maddy Brown’s fourth-inning groundout brought home Mackenzie Gammon for the go-ahead run in the first game. Gammon finished with two hits, and Hayden Chase doubled and singled for Mountain Valley. Libby fanned five.

Natalie James and Genevieve Ciccarelli each doubled, singled and drove in a run for the Bulldogs (5-8).

The Falcons took control early in the second game, plating five runs in the first inning. Gammon tripled and drove in a run, while Brown contributed a hit and two RBI. Libby limited the Bulldogs to three hits and struck out four.
