Bruce Merrithew
FAIRFIELD – Bruce Merrithew, 53, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on Sept. 8, 1972.
Bruce worked for many years in construction, including his time with Fortin Construction Company, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Outside of work, he loved the simple pleasures in life, especially watching NASCAR and cheering on Jeff Gordon. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his son, Patrick, or his brother, James.
He is survived by his children: Patrick Smith of Winslow, Rena Giles of Waterville, and Misti Montgomery and her husband Eric of Bar Harbor; his six grandchildren; and his brother, James Merrithew and his wife Cindy of Fairfield. He was predeceased by his parents, Shirley Merrithew and Bernie Bouchard.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter in Bruce’s memory.
