Voters in Rangeley will be voting on a proposed $11.88 million budget, a 3.5% increase, at the annual town meeting Tuesday, June 9. The budget includes funding for Regional School Unit 78 and Franklin County.
The town meeting will be held at 8 a.m. in the conference room of the town office.
The town’s parks, police department and infrastructure are among the articles residents will be deciding on.
The town is requesting $1.35 million from the TIF project account to fund future updates to Rangeley’s Town Cove Park and Oquossoc Park. Voters will also be polled on whether the town should apply for a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to offset the cost of future projects.
The police department is requesting $77,600 to purchase a new vehicle.
Residents will be asked to approve $165,000 from the town’s undesignated funds balance to go toward repairs to the town office roof, public safety building bay doors and new slips at Town Cove Park.
The town is also asking for permission to transfer $245,000 of undesignated funds into active reserve accounts.
Town Manager Joe Roach said that if all articles pass, the tax commitment would rise to $9.45 million, $318,158 more than the current fiscal year.
In local elections, residents will vote to fill two contested seats on the select board. Three uncontested races will fill three seats on the budget committee, two on the parks commission and two on the sewer commission. Voting for the June state and federal primary elections will also take place June 9 at the town office.
