Gorham High junior Hunter Finck was named the Gatorade Maine Baseball Player of the Year on Monday.

Finck is 5-0 this season after pitching six scoreless innings in the Rams’ 9-1 win over Thornton Academy on Thursday. In 29 2/3 innings, Finck, who has committed to the University of Alabama, has struck out 43 batters.

Through the Rams’ first 12 games, Finck was batting .588 with 17 RBI and 19 runs scored. Gorham is ranked No. 1 in the Varsity Maine baseball poll and is in first place the Class A South Heal point standings.
