Remember in 2020 when Trump MAGA was all about “Stop the Steal” with regard to the presidential election? Remember, also, when President Trump called Georgia election officials and asked them to reverse the election results? OK, OK, we all know his hypocrisy.
“Stop the Steal” is still with us today. It’s called the SAVE America Act. Most of us know that it will make voting more difficult for us. And most of us know that the election fraud Republicans scream about is a lie. But, hidden among all the clatter, is the “steal.”
If the SAVE America Act passes, Trump gets his hands on the election system. For the last 250 years, elections have been run and controlled by each state and territory. The SAVE America Act shifts more control of the elections to the federal government.
With Trump’s hand on the wheel, those thousands of votes in Georgia that he didn’t get are no longer a problem. Trump has said (1) he might try to run for a third term or (2) he might decide to cancel elections and become president for life. And, while there would be considerable opposition to either, the SAVE America Act would make his vision that much easier.
