Patricia Anne Hutchinson

MANCHESTER – Patricia Anne Hutchinson passed away surrounded by love on May 30, 2026, after a long illness.

Patricia was born in Arlington, Mass. on Feb. 11, 1940, the daughter of Catherine (Pessotti) Baker. She grew up in Arlington among the loving and gregarious Pessotti family, and went on to attend the School of Nursing at Boston College. After graduating magna cum laude from BC, Patricia began what would become a 40+ year career in nursing and public health.

Patricia loved traveling (she toured Europe just after graduating from BC), and a most important trip took her to Maine with friends to go skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain, where she met her future husband, Robert, at the infamous Red Stallion Inn. Patricia and Robert got married in Arlington in July 1968, and settled in Farmingdale, Maine.

She joined the nursing team at MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta working as a nursing supervisor in the evenings. Patricia later earned a Masters Degree in Community Health Education from the University of Southern Maine, and she was appointed as Director of Community Health at MaineGeneral, where she led a number of important initiatives to improve nutrition, wellness and preventative check-ups in the community (including working closely with Healthy Futures Inc.). Patricia worked for over 40 years in nursing and community health at MaineGeneral.

In 1972, Pat and Rob built a home in Manchester, Maine, where they happily raised two children, son Mark and daughter Anne. They were active members of the community, with Patricia involving herself in town activities, countless family gatherings, theater, sports and skiing trips to “the Loaf” with family.

Patricia is survived by her husband Robert of Manchester; her daughter Anne of Augusta, her son Mark, his wife Lorraine and Patricia’s grandchildren, Tyler and Julia, of New York City; along with an extensive number of relatives in Massachusetts and New York.

Patricia’s family would like to express their love and appreciation to the angels at Avita of Brunswick for their wonderful care for Patricia over the years, as well as the hospice team from Affinity Care.

Relatives and friends may visit on Wednesday, June 17 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18th at 11 a.m. Private burial will be held at a later time in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manchester.

Condolences, stories and photos may be shared at http://www.plummerfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, Patricia’s family requests that you consider a donation in her memory to the Augusta Food Bank, an organization that she was heavily involved in for many years, at http://www.augustafoodbank.o
