Gabrielle F. Veilleux

WATERVILLE – Gabrielle F. Veilleux, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

She was born in Waterville, the daughter of Philip and Louise (Veilleux) Rossignol, on Oct. 9, 1942.

Gabrielle attended and graduated from Waterville Public Schools. After high school, she began working at Notre Dame Credit Union. She stepped away from the workforce to raise her two sons before returning as a school bus driver in Waterville for a short period of time. Gabe then began working for the Diocesan Bureau of Human Relations Services, most recently known as Catholic Charities of Maine, as an administrative assistant to the Director of the Waterville office. She also worked for (KVCAP) before working and retiring from the City of Waterville, performing mostly in the welfare department and filling in at the city’s clerk’s office as needed.

Gabe loved spending time with her family, cousins and friends. She would take short day trips and sometimes vacation in Canada with her husband Jean-Paul, visiting family and friends before his passing in September of 2014.

She would play cards, being particularly fond of the game “63” with men vs. women, when she would visit friends and family. She also loved playing this game with her grandson Tresten Bergeron, who also had a love of card games, anytime they could.

She was a Eucharistic Minister for Notre Dame Catholic Church and would bring communion to those that were unable to attend the church services. She was also an active member of the Ladies Guild for many years at Notre Dame as well.

She is predeceased by her parents Philip and Louise Rossignol of Waterville, her husband Jean-Paul, son Lee Veilleux, and her sister Francoise Rossignol.

She is survived by her son Normand Veilleux of Fairfield; her grandson Tresten Bergeron of Madison and his wife Tiffany; her sister Juliette Poirier of Waterville; cousins and in-laws in the greater Waterville area, as well as relatives in Canada.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 13, at 9 a.m., at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville. Following the mass, she will be buried at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville.
