People who have a beef with Graham Platner have a beef with Maine. Maine voted — and we came out in force for Platner.
It’s high time the media recognizes the difference between scandal and poor life choices. If we are going to usher in new voices, we need to embrace the fact that no one has a perfect past. Stop villainizing a person who is trying to rebrand himself and stand up for Mainers.
It would be different if Platner didn’t take responsibility for his actions or if he had been accused of sexual abuse. I feel Platner has taken responsibility for his actions, actions which took place between consenting adults.
Maine is being reasonable. Everyone else should be reasonable too.
