WINTHROP – Juliette M. Piper, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Hillside Terrace in Hallowell following a long illness. She was born in Augusta on May 14, 1938, a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Anaise (Bellavance) Mercier.
She was educated at St. Augustine School and Cony High School.
Mrs. Piper was co-owner of Cobbossee Cash Market and Winthrop Wood Products for 10 years, then co-owner Lakeside Antiques for 27 years in East Winthrop.
Julie was predeceased by her husband, Ormand Piper; and her brother, Roland Mercier.
She is survived by three daughters and one son, Richard Piper and his wife Sheila of Manchester, Linda Bean and her husband Wendell of Bangor, Cathleen Lawler and her husband Frank of Greenville and Diane Williams of Brunswick; two sisters, Yvonne Lajoie of Augusta and Bernadette Whitten of Tennessee; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and cousins.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Cemetery, Townsend Rd., Augusta.
