Louise Adelaide (Conron) Fisher
ORONO – Louise Adelaide (Conron) Fisher passed away on June 20, 2026, at the age of 97. She had been a resident of Orono Commons-Homestead Facility, since September 2021.
Louise was born on Dec. 22, 1928, in Everett, Mass. to parents Ruth Winnifred (Mayo) Conron and Robert Emmett Conron. She attended the public schools of Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1946. It was while attending high school that she lost her father on Feb. 20, 1944, and her only sibling, a brother, Robert Wendell Conron, (age 18, while serving in the US Navy) on Jan. 2, 1945.
After graduating high school, Louise completed a course in Stenotypy at LaSalle School in Boston,
Mass., then went to work for Messenger Ins. Co., and then in 1949 she went to work for Factory Mutual Ins. Co., Planning Division, in Boston, as a secretary. It was at Factory Mutual that she met, fell in love with, and married Raymond I. Fisher, Jr.
Louise and Ray were married April 14, 1951, in Malden, Mass. Followed by a honeymoon trip through Maine to Quebec City, Louise and Ray settled into an apartment, with her mother, on Salem Street in Malden. In June 1951 Louise and Ray borrowed money to purchase two waterfront lots on Bailey Island, Harpswell, Maine, and the following summer started to build a camp.
On August 5, 1952, Louise and Ray had a daughter, Carol and on Dec. 2, 1953, they had a son, Wayne in May 1954. Seeking better employment opportunities, Ray accepted a job with the Hollingworth and Whitney Paper Mill in Winslow, Maine, which later became Scott Paper Co.
So, in June 1954, Ray, Louise, their two children, and her mother Ruth, moved to an apartment on Railroad Street in Clinton, Maine. Later Louise and Ray would purchase that house, raise their family, and stay into retirement.
Louise and Ray had two more sons, Alan born on Dec. 26, 1960, and Tedd born on May 13, 1963. While raising their four children Louise and Ray managed to build their camp on Bailey Island and spent as much time there as they could.
Once Louise and family had moved to Clinton, as was common for the times, Louise was a homemaker and concentrated on raising her family. She was a Cub Scout den mother, Clinton School Improvement Assoc. member, and lots of other things that small town parents do.
After raising her family and becoming an empty nester, Louise was a charter member of the “Golden Girls” at the Champions Fitness Club. Louise also took art lessons for years and became an accomplished artist. Louise and Ray were charter members of the Clinton Historical Society, which was formed in 1990. They were also long-time members of the Clinton Senior Citizens Group.
Louise was predeceased by her parents Robert Emmett and Ruth Mayo Conron; her brother Robert Wendell Conron; and her husband of 66 years, Raymond I Fisher Jr.
Louise is survived by her daughter Carol Donahue of Oakland, her granddaughter Jasmin and husband Brian Downing and great grandsons Grayson and Quinn; her granddaughter Andrea and husband Shawn Keaveny and great grandsons Caleb and Alden; her son Wayne Fisher and wife Becky of Oakland, her grandson Ryan Fisher and wife Katelynn and great grandchildren Owen, Jack, and Nora; her grandson John Fisher and wife Lindsey and great grandchildren Tessa and Simon; her son Alan and wife Kathy of Benton, her granddaughter Makayla and husband Michael O’Connor and great grandson Michael; her granddaughter Lindsey Fisher; her son Tedd Fisher and wife Joyce of Sidney, her grandsons Garrett Fisher and Evan Fisher.
