A Brewer man died when he rear-ended a stopped tractor trailer in the Piscataquis County town of Greenville on Tuesday, police say.

Officers responded to the crash near 482 Moosehead Lake Road about 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Greenville Police Department said in a news release Friday.

Daniel Michaud, 39, of Brewer, was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.

Preliminary findings indicate Michaud was northbound on Moosehead Lake Road in a work van before hitting the rear of a tractor trailer, according to the department.

The tractor trailer was stopped at a traffic light in a construction zone, the police department said.

The road was closed for several hours as officials investigated the scene, the department said.

The investigation is ongoing, but speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors, police said.
