It’s disappointing. In countless stump speeches, Donald Trump promised to “drain the swamp.” The assumption was that he would reduce corruption in government. Instead, it seems he has taken title to it.
It’s well documented that he’s greatly enriched himself and his family and followers from the power of the U.S. presidency. Perhaps more than any president in living memory.
Now, Trump has another swamp, right next door, that he’s going to have to have drained. Ironic. But at this time of the calendar, I would argue that being a real patriot is respecting and celebrating one’s fellow citizens. Not charging them extra.
