HALLOWELL – Marilyn M. Taylor, 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2026, at Woodlands Senior Living Center in Hallowell, Maine. She was born in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Christine Bowden.
During her life she worked in a shoe mill, ran a daycare, was a CNA/CRNA, worked at Bath Iron Works, but was known for her business Taylors’ Fabrics and Notions and was extremely great at being a seamstress and making quilts.
She enjoyed dancing, going to music festivals, going to the Steve and The Good Ole Boys band, motorcycling and Grange.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Linwood and wife Sue; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; stepchildren; along with two sisters, Barbara and Sharon, and some longtime friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanwood in 2011; son, Benjamin; grandson, Joshua; great-grandson, Caleb; and her siblings Robert, Lloyd, Ramona, Marylou and Patricia.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Woodlands Memory Care Unit& 39’s team, Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, along with her doctor, Dr. Alyssa Newcombe, for the excellent care they all provided her.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral services and a private burial in the family plot at Kents Hill Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements provided by Direct Cremation of Maine.
