Harold Bruce Boynton
AUGUSTA – Bruce Boynton passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026 after a second battle with leukemia. He was born in Waterville, Maine the youngest of six children born to Marion and John Boynton.
Bruce attended China Elementary School, graduated from Cony High School Class of 1971 and received a degree from the University of Southern Maine in 1999. He was a man of varied skills and interests, which led him to many occupations. Bruce found his calling as an educator at Capital Area Technical Center.
He worked for 18 years as the Cooperative Education teacher and the advisor of the Skills USA Club. It was through the two positions that he created a positive impact on the lives of hundreds of students from eight area high schools. Bruce’s generosity of spirit and his unwavering loyalty were rewarded by the many strong relationships he enjoyed, especially those formed at the Technical Center.
After his first battle with leukemia, he returned to the workforce as an employee for the City of Augusta where he spent 10 years.
Bruce cherished the time spent with family and friends and often recalled special memories made with his partner, Debbie Billing, during summers on Washington Pond. He was very thankful for the many relatives, dear friends and co-workers who came to say “Goodbye” during his last days.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Richard.
He is survived by Debbie, her extended family; his son, Nick; and grandson, Evan; brother, Jack and sisters Judy, Janet and Jane; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Alfond Cancer Center and Beacon Hospice, especially Amanda, for her loving care.
At Bruce’s request there will be no visiting hours or funeral. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on his tribute wall, in care of Riposta Funeral Home and Direct Cremation of Maine.
