In his July 12 op-ed (“Non-judgmental tolerance, vaunted by liberals, is not a virtue”), the writer Charles Todorich mistakes tolerance as a potential vice, because he thinks it to be amoral.

But non-judgmental acceptance is simply the way of Jesus: “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7:1).

Before we make any decision about another’s beliefs or behaviors, we should hear them out and try to understand; we should start by judging our own judgmentalism, which Todorich plentifully displays in his judgments of trans people, homeless people and illegal immigrants.

God bless him! And we should be more understanding of people who simply want to begin with generosity to those who are different.
