Ralph “Sonny” Scott

LEESBURG, Fla. – Ralph “Sonny” Scott, 81, of Leesburg, Fla., passed away on July 14, 2026. He was born on April 30, 1945, in Waterville, Maine, to Ralph and Ella Scott.

Sonny spent most of his life in Maine, where he and his wife, Edith R. Scott, raised their family in Clinton. He later retired to Leesburg, Fla. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, his greatest joy was time spent with his family and traveling the country with his devoted wife.

Ralph was a lifelong sports fan and an accomplished athlete. He continued to stay active throughout his life, playing softball, tennis, pickleball, and golf until shortly before his passing. As a longtime New England Patriots fan, he enjoyed many memorable times with family in Foxborough, Mass. Professionally, Sonny worked for many years as an Information Technology Specialist at Scott Paper and later at Health Reach.

Sonny is survived by his beloved wife, Edith R. Scott; his children, Wendy Scott Mahoney and husband Kevin Mahoney, Troy Scott and significant other Eliza Folsom; his grandchildren, Madolin Cook, Liam Mahoney, and Gray Scott; and his great-grandchildren, Cillian and Donavan Cook.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Ella Scott; and sister, Linda.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. at Green Lawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton to be followed by a Celebration of Life at the Lions Fairgrounds in Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation supporting Sarcoma Research.
