This is in reference to the early school shutdowns on Feb. 27.
In talking to other taxpayers and responsible parents, I heard about their widespread disappointment in the reaction by Maine school districts to call off school at noon.
Given that no snow was evident on the roads, some people think it was a pretty lazy effort on the part of the schools.
This decision reflected poorly on the school systems and seemed to show that the commitment to educating Maine’s youth takes a back seat to any excuse to “skip school.” Given that Maine taxpayers are annually having to pay more into schools, they deserve far better.
