I read with disappointment a recent political advertisement “An Open Letter” by the supporters of Dave Rollins. The ad was in reference to his opponent, Harold Elliott, for a seat on the City Council.
I was unaware that when city councilors were elected they gave up their right to volunteer on behalf of a candidate.
I have known Rollins for 45 years or so, and find it disappointing his committee would write such a letter.
He has represented our city, worked hard on the Alumni Field renovations and is just a great person.
I see every candidate seeking endorsements and displaying their picture with sitting politicians. I hope Rollins takes a moment to denounce this advertisement, and seek re-election based on his past service to the citizens of Augusta.
