CHINA — Regional Land Trust invites families and individuals to participate in the 2012 Farm and Habitat Tour starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 16.

Tour proceeds will benefit SRLT’s conservation efforts in the Sebasticook River watershed.

The ride starts and ends at the parking lot next to The Landing restaurant at the corner of Lakeview Drive (U.S. Route 202) and Causeway Road in China.

A 25- or 30-mile loop around China Lake will include rest stops and a support vehicle.

This year cyclists can again enjoy tours of farms and wild places led by local farmers and guides, experience locally produced fruit, veggies and yogurt, and take in the beauty of the Sebasticook watershed.

New tour stops this year will include Three Level Farm and the Davidson Preserve, with Meadow Brook Farm and the China School Forest both returning for a second year.

An option available for those who would rather be on the water is a guided paddle in and around the China Lake wetlands.

The paddle will likely last no more than two hours and will end sooner than the bike tour.

Registrations begin at 8 a.m. the day of the ride, but people are encouraged to register early to ensure they receive a tour T-shirt featuring the winning artwork from this year’s logo contest, submitted by Anders Olson of Unity.

The registration fees for either the bike or paddle tour cost $10 per person or $20 per family (up to two adults and unlimited children).
