SOUTH BRISTOL — Six men are facing charges after they were trapped by the property owner as they allegedly tried to steal metal off his land on Route 129.
The property owner and his friends used their vehicles to block the six men from leaving, said Lt. Rand Maker of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The six men were arrested when deputies arrived.
Arrested and charged with theft were T.J. Edwards, 23, of Casco; Wayne P. King, 32, of Waldoboro; James Vachon and Justin Edwards, both 20 and of Lewiston; and Michael Moore, 26, and Ian Doyle, 27, both of Leeds. Vachon also was charged with violating conditions of release and was issued a warrant charging him with failure to appear to answer a previous theft complaint. T.J. Edwards and King also were issued warrants charging unpaid fines.
The men allegedly tried to steal metal chain, a metal box and the metal portion of a bumper worth a total of about $250.
Police continue to investigate whether the men are responsible for additional thefts, Maker said.
