WINSLOW — Police are following leads in a Sunday robbery at Rite Aid pharmacy on China Road in which a man got away with oxycodone and methadone.
“Some people called this morning and some this afternoon, saying they saw a certain vehicle in the area,” police Sgt. Josh Veilleux said Monday.

Police converged on the Rite Aid around 12:15 p.m. Sunday after a white man in a black-hooded sweatshirt and tan pants used a note to demand drugs. The note said he had a gun, according to police.
The robber fled the store with a bag of pill bottles — police would not say how many — ran through the parking lot and through bushes by the store’s driveway on China Road, ran up that road onto Garland Road and then got into a vehicle just north of Agway True Value, police said.
State police Trooper Matt Casavant and his German shepherd, Marcello, tracked the robber to that point.
Waterville police Sunday helped Winslow officers search the area around Rite Aid and near Agway, Central Maine Equipment and Mid-Maine Internal Medicine.
Veilleux said police Monday were continuing to gather information in the case.
“We’ve got some of our officers out doing follow-ups right now on those leads,” he said around 2 p.m.
Police are focusing on surveillance video of vehicles that were in the area around the time of the robbery, Veilleux said.
He said the robber has a medium build, is in his 20s or early 30s, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and was wearing a light-colored baseball cap, large dark sunglasses and heavy Thinsulate gloves that possibly had some gray on them.
His pants may have been Carhartt brand, police said.
The store closed for more than two hours Sunday afternoon while police interviewed employees and processed the scene.
Veilleux said at the store Sunday that he believes people who see suspicious incidents are becoming more vigilant, gathering details and calling police quickly.
“I think it’s just a matter of time before the public starts to be proactive,” he said.
Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call them at 872-5215.
Meanwhile, Waterville police continue to investigate a similar robbery March 25 at CVS pharmacy on Kennedy Memorial Drive.
The same CVS pharmacy in Waterville was robbed in June 2010. In January 2011, Randa Lee Nason, 24, and listed as transient, was convicted of a Class B felony for that robbery. She also was convicted of robbing two pharmacies in southern Maine
