ORONO — Madison Area Memorial High School recently places first, second and fourth in the Windstorm and Wind Blade Challenges at the University of Maine.

The University, the Maine Wind Industry Initiative and the Maine Composites Alliance welcomed participating middle and high school students from more than 40 Maine school for the daylong event. Winners received $20,000 paid internships with UMaine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center.

All members of the first place teams from the Challenge were awarded paid internships in two categories: Stability and Overall Score. Team MMA from Madison took overall first place and The Wok from Winthrop High School took first place in stability.
