WATERVILLE — The 24th annual Gene & Lucille Letourneau Ice Fishing Derby is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20.

The official weigh-in is from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Muskie Community Center, 38 Gold St. Participants can bring their family and warm up next to the fire pit, play a game of corn hole, or have a s’more at the s’more’s bar. Cohen on the Meadows will have food available for purchase.

The derby promotes outdoor sports and helps raise funds for Spectrum Generations’ Muskie Community Center — a place where older adults and/or disabled adults can gather for socialization with friends, enjoy numerous activities to keep them engaged, and participate in health and wellness classes to maintain vitality of mind and body, according to an event news release.

The ice fishing derby attracts people throughout the state to compete for prizes. This multigenerational family event encourages ages 15 and younger to compete in their own category. Cash prizes for first and second place (in eight fish categories) are available for adults and youth.

Tickets cost $3 for one, $5 for two and $10 for five, and can be purchases at the Muskie Community Center.

Each ticket purchase allows a fish entry and an entry into the drawing for the door prize — a Yeti Tundra 65 cooler valued at $500, sponsored by Nale Law Offices.
